west coast as bashEvery other year since 1996, The Freethought Society (FS) has hosted anti-superstition themed events on the East Coast. On Friday, February 13, 2015, the very first West Coast Anti-Superstition Bash and Friggatriskaidekaphobia Treatment Center was hosted by FS and the Backyard Skeptics. A West Coast team of volunteers worked together for nine months to create one of the best events, ever!

oct 2017 treatment center reportThe Freethought Society’s (FS) East Coast Friggatriskai- dekaphobia Treatment Center opened on Friday, October 13, 2017, in the ballroom of the Embassy Suites located at 9000 Bartram Avenue in Philadelphia. The Friday-the- Thirteenth party kicked off the Pennsylvania State Atheist/ Humanist conference which took place on the Saturday and Sunday after the party. 

Margaret Downey was the emcee and the Lead Frigga- triskaidekaphobia Treatment Center Nurse. Throughout the night, her staff of doctors and nurses took party attendees through an anti-superstition obstacle course and certified them for a “Clean Bill of Mental Health” souvenir certificate.

This Friday-the-Thirteenth event was made even more special with West Chester resident Aimee Streeter performing three superstition-themed Frank Sinatra songs. Additional songs that inspired a lot of dancing were brought to the party by DJ Dominic.

jan 2017 party reportThe Freethought Society’s (FS) Anti-Superstition Bash, Friday-the-Thirteenth, Friggatriskaidekaphobia Treatment Center theme was put into play on Friday, January 13, 2017 to kick off the first annual Skeptics and freethinker’s conference entitled “LogiCal-LA.”

“The Friday night party was a terrific way to premier the fun, yet educational program that was tohappen over the weekend,” said Bruce Gleason, the director of LogiCal-LA. He went on to say, “It’s too bad we can’t always open LogiCal-LA with a Friday-the-Thirteenth party.” LogiCal-LA will be an annual Los Angeles, California event that is set to take place every January.
